Industrial construction in Sierra Leone
ASSAS undertakes industrial construction in Sierra Leone for warehouses, factories, storage tanks, plant pipework and service installations. An industrial building must fit its intended operation. Vehicle movements, equipment, storage, drainage and maintenance access all affect the structure and the construction sequence. We define those requirements with you before measuring and pricing the agreed work.
Start with the operation inside the building
A warehouse brief needs the storage arrangement, delivery vehicles, loading areas and clearances. A factory also needs the equipment layout and service requirements. These decisions inform structural spans, openings, floor design, foundations and the position of drainage. The engineer's design establishes the loads and construction specification for the intended use.
The scope should distinguish the building shell from equipment supply and installation. Roof and wall cladding, doors, office areas, welfare facilities and external yards require defined specifications. Equipment bases and service openings need to be coordinated before concrete is placed or steelwork is fabricated. Late information can change completed work as well as procurement.
Coordinate structures, tanks and pipework
Steelwork and reinforced concrete packages need agreed design information and interfaces. The drawings should identify connections, foundations, movement requirements and protection systems. Where storage tanks or plant pipework form part of the contract, the specification establishes the material, operating requirements, supports, connections and testing scope.
Existing operations require additional planning. You and the site lead agree the work areas, access routes and any interruptions needed for connections or alterations. Responsibilities for isolations and operating equipment are recorded before the affected task proceeds. New construction and ongoing production should have a defined physical and contractual boundary.
Allow for the site and supply sequence
Industrial sites in Sierra Leone need a delivery plan that fits the road access and the space available for unloading and storage. A delivery of long steel members creates different requirements from bags of cement or boxed fittings. The programme must match procurement to the order in which the structure and services will be installed.
Rainwater management affects yards, loading areas and unfinished buildings. The site plan identifies temporary drainage and protected material storage. The completed layout needs an agreed route for surface water. Ground information, floor levels and the design of external drainage must be reviewed together before the formation and slab package is priced.
Control the scope and the cost record
We organise industrial construction pricing through measured quantities and a bill of quantities. The written contract identifies scope, rates, programme, payment and variations. Materials, labour, plant and changes are recorded against the work. One named site lead is responsible throughout the contract. How we work explains our reporting commitments. Civil and infrastructure, and building construction, are related services for a coordinated site package.
Client questions
Can you build a warehouse shell only?
Yes. The agreed scope can separate foundations, structure, roof and cladding from internal fit-out, external works and equipment. Each boundary needs to be recorded in the drawings and quotation.
What information do you need about machinery?
Equipment layout, loads, support details, service connections and access requirements inform the design. The manufacturer and project engineer must supply the relevant information before the affected foundations and structure are finalised.
Can work take place beside an operating facility?
The construction sequence is agreed around access, work areas and operating restrictions. Any service interruption or connection needs defined responsibility and written arrangements before it proceeds.
Are tanks and pipework included in the building price?
Only where they are listed in the agreed package. Materials, supports, connections, testing and equipment interfaces need separate descriptions so you can see what the contract covers.
How do you control changes to an industrial layout?
Changes are recorded against the drawings, quantities and programme. Their effects on structure, equipment interfaces and cost are reviewed through the written variation procedure before the changed work proceeds.
